    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Occupation: Sollicitor

    Notes:

Jackson v. Lord Viscount Milsington, for Crim. Con. Judgment in this cause was suffered to go by default, and a jury was on Saturday impannelled before the Sheriff, to assess the damages. Mr. Jackson is an eminent Solicitor, and nephew of the late Sir Wm. Middleton; his lady, one of the daughters of Col. Bishopp, of Sussex, and niece to Sir Geo. Warren. The noble defendant, by whom this lady was seduced, is eldest son to the wealthy Earl of Portmore. After the first intimacy, the intrigue was carried on under the pretence that his Lordship paid his addresses to Miss Bishopp, one of the sisters of Mrs. Jackson. On the discovery of the criminal intercourse, Mrs. Jackson eloped, and has since lived with Lord Milsington. The Jury returned a verdict of 2000£. damages, and costs of suit. It is very extraordinary in the late discovery of adultery with Mrs. M. and adds much to the perplexity of the case that the injured husband, and his venerable father, are, officially, the identical persons to whom, in cases of this nature, it is necessary to apply for redress. Henry married Harriet BISHOPP on 26 Sep 1791 in Storrington, Sussex, England. Harriet (daughter of Henry BISHOPP and Mary WICKER) was born about 1770; died before 1824. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
