Their religion was Baptist and origin was Scotch. Another researcher interested in the Coes line has indicated a Butler Coes and Edward Reese Coes, as being in the same areas as Robert, indicating possible brothers or cousins relationships. Robert was employed as shoemaker and farmer (1861)
