Roberta Mae Sexauer Bride of John E. Harpham Christ Episcopal Church of Meadville, Pa., was the scene fo the wedding of Miss Roberta Mae Sexauer and John Elliott Harpham on Saturday afternoon, August 14, at 3:30.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. andr Mrs. Loren D. Sexauer, Jr., of Meadville and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Harpham of Park Ridge, Illinois.
The Rev. Fr. Robert H. Moore, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony. Musical selections were "Sung of Ruth" and "The Lord’s Prayer." Soloist, Kip Weldon accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Miller at the organ.
Escorted by her father, the bride was attended by Miss Charlotte Erdman of Greencastle, Ind., as maid of honor and Miss Kathlech Sceales of Milwaukee, Wis., as bridesmaid. Serving as junior bridesmaids were the Misses Patricia and Susan Sexauer, sisters of the bride, and the Misses Joni and Janet Harpham, sisters of the groom.
Mr. Harpham chose his brother, Geoffrey Harpham as his best man. Guests were ushered by Paul and Larry Sexauer, brothers of the bride, John Gamble and Sandy Babcock.
The bride’s gown-fashioned in satin faced puire sil organza was designed with simulated bolero high rise bodice of Alençon lace, scoop neckline and elbow length sleeves accented with a flounce. The A-line floor length skirt featured a chapel train. She wore a mantilla of imported Belgian lace and carried a bouquet of phalaenopsis orchis surrounded by stephanotis and ivy. Her attendants wore aqua linen gowns with scoop necklines, cap sleeves and empire bodices defined with moss green velvet handing. The A-line floor length skirts featured concentrated back fullness. Their headpieces were matching linen Dior bows and thy carried bouquets of daisies and ivy.
Mrs. Sexauer, mother of the bride chose a mint green silk shantung sheath dress with matching jacket and accessories. The groom’s maother wore an emerald green dress, matching accessories and both wore corsages of white orchids.
A reception following the ceremony was held at the Iroquois Club at Cnneaut Lake, Pa., featureing a buffet supper. Mrs Eva Carson, of Chicago, had charge of the guest book.
Among the many out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Loren D. Sexauer of Antioch, grandparents of the bride.
Mr. and Mrs. Harpham left for a wedding trip in the Smoky Mountains. They will reside in Watertown, N.Y., where Mr. Harpham will enter the United States Air Force as second lieutenant September 1. Mrs Harpham will teach elementary school. Both ar June graduates of DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.
