Wedding of an Arlington Heights girl,
Kathleen Louise Barney, and
Edward Dennis Jacks Jr., sports editor of the
Barrington Press. The bride is the daughter of the John Maynard Barneys of 1704 N. Ridge Ave., and the groom’s parents, the senior Edward Jackses, reside in Lake Forest. After the 3 o’clock rites a reception for 150 guests took place at Deerpath Inn in the North Shore suburb. The newly weds will live at 30 Lake St., Lake Zurich.
The bride attended Lake Forest College and is now a medical technician in the Highland Park Doctors’ Building. Her bridegroom attended Southern Illinois University for two years. In the bridal procession there were five attendants, all gowned alike in empire styled floor- length dresses with a narrow Aline skirt. The bodice was of moss green satin and the crepe skirt in a mortar shade. Each girl carried a bouquet of green fuji mums, bittersweet and wheat. Alice Pressman of Philadelphia was maid of honor, while Elizabeth Getz, Nancy Jacks and Mary Jane Taber, all of Lake Forest, and Toni Waldier of New York were bridesmaids. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a sheer wool floor-length dress simply styled with an empire waistline gathered at the back to form a very full train. Her butterfly veil was attached to a small headpiece of roses. The bride carried white roses with ivy in a cascade bouquet. Robert Jacks was his brother’s best man, while the bride’s brother, Frederick Barney, ushered along with Thomas Mather of Florida, John Fenney of New Jersey and Peter Snow of Lake Forest. Witnessing her daughter’s marriage, Mrs. Barney wore a cranberry colored dress and full-length coat in brocaded satin. Mrs. Jacks wore a brocaded jacket dress of gold, green and beige.
Before returning to work, the newlyweds spent a week ’s honeymoon in Missouri. Mrs. P. Griffin and Mrs. D. Hochsteler for birdge; Mrs. W. Muhr and Mrs. T. Tilly, pinochle; Mrs. R. Laier and Mrs. D.
