Marjorie Ruth “Marj” (Breckon, Ogletree) Roberts, age 80, of Dodgeville, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011.
She was born August 5, 1930, in Mineral Point, to Paul and Marjorie Irene (Straight) Breckon. She was raised on the family farm outside Mineral Point, on Breckon Road. She attended Mineral Point schools, graduating in 1948. She was a very active participant at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mineral Point, having served for many years on the church vestry and working diligently as a member of the church guild. She worked for many years as a nurse at St Joseph’s Hospital later to become Memorial Hospital of Iowa County. Her nursing career included working at Bloomfield Manor, General Hospital and the Mineral Point Care Center. Before her retirement, she finished her career working at the Veteran’s Hospital in Madison.
After being hospitalized for serious chronic illnesses, Marjorie moved to Bloomfield Manor in Dodgeville, on Dec. 27, 2010. She worked hard on her rehab to rebuild strength and was doing very well until her chronic illnesses became more acute. She began HospiceCare on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011. She received wonderful care by both the Hospice organization and the Bloomfield Manor staff. Her family is very appreciative of the loving and compassionate care she received.
Marjorie is survived by her children, son, David (Laurie) Ogletree, grandchildren, Rachel and Alyssa; daughter, Marjorie (Sue Ogletree) (Robert) Vaughn, grandchildren, Matthew (Audrey) and Bethany (fiancé, Paul), great-grandchild, James Owen; daughter, Jena (Joni Ogletree) Breckon, grandchildren, Danielle (Ben) and Jesse, great-grandchildren, Olivia and Logan; daughter, Laurie (Ogletree) Rossing, grandchildren Lance (Larissa) and Lindsay; son, James "Jim" (Kathi) Roberts, grandchildren, Paul, Eric, Michael and Adam; and son, John Roberts.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Mineral Point, Father Robert Hector officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The service will be held at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow. The internment will follow at the end of April with a private family service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given, in Marjorie’s name, to Trinity Episcopal Church.
