Phillip G. Replinger, age 72, died on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at the HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. He was born on Dec. 6, 1938, in Madison, the son of Wilbur and Adella (Hickey) Replinger. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, where he served as a medic. Phillip was united in marriage to Dorothy "Virginia" Breckon on Jan. 26, 1963, in Madison. He worked for the City of Madison Parks Department for 42 years, as greens-keeper at Glenway Golf Course.
After retirement he enjoyed working for 10 years at Vitense Golf Course. Along with keeping the golf course looking pristine, he also enjoyed tending his own yard. He also enjoyed his time spent remodeling his home and feeding the wildlife in the neighborhood.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia; three children, Kevin (Amy) Replinger, Karen (Roger) Biechler and Kathy Avila Replinger; four grandchildren, Chaz Ring, and Liam, Marissa and Seth Avila; sisters, Caryl (Neil) Rossmaessler, Ruth Fess McDonald and Audrey (Bob) Breiby; daughter-in-law, Jill Replinger; and sisters-in-law, Deloris Replinger and Ann Replinger. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Replinger; and two brothers, John and Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011, Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 501 Owen Drive, with Monsignor Kenneth Fiedler officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the Joyce-Ryan Funeral Home, 5701 Odana Road, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday at the Church. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
