Vernon Edward Wright of Fredericton, NB, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 at the age of 92. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ernest and Winifred (Chapman) Wright.
He worked for both Central and Royal Trust companies in Saint John and for Royal Trust in Fredericton. As a young man he worked for T. McAvity’s and during the war he was employed as an electrician with the Toronto Ship Building. His main interest was singing. He was a member of the Fredericton Barber Shoppers for approximately thirty years. Over those years he enjoyed participating in choral presentations at various hospitals and nursing homes.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Britney); one son, Paul Wright (Linda) of Ottawa, ON, and one daughter, Carole Phalen of Miramichi; two granddaughters, Sally Waycott of Ottawa and Elizabeth Phalen of Toronto; and one sister, Lillian Butler of Saint John.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home on Sunday, October 26th, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, October 27th, 2008 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Bob Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Salvation Army or the charity of the donor’s choice. www.mcadamsfh.com <
