    1. [S4] Obituary.
Henry Alexander Apostal, 86 years old of Salem, WI passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home on Monday, October 16, 2017. He was born December 12, 1930, in Chicago, IL.
Henry worked at his dad’s restaurant, The Blue Room Restaurant at 1805 S. Blue Island Avenue in Chicago which they built in 1947 after the sale of their candy store, Candyfield Candies. He started going steady with Elaine Richter prior to his graduation from Fenwick High School in June of 1949. He was co-owner of Capital Cleaners in Chicago, which also had a shoe shine parlor inside. He worked for Veterans Catering Service and later purchased a Chevy panel truck to deliver sandwiches, fruit, and drinks to area factory workers. He married his high school sweetheart at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church on January 24, 1953. Henry became a milling machine trainee at Bradfoote Gear Works in Cicero. They moved to Oak Park before the birth of their first child, Joanne in June of 1954. In 1957, they moved to Antioch, and he commuted to work. In 1958 he got a job closer to home and started working at Ammco Tools in North Chicago where he worked as a foreman until his retirement in 1987. As retirement wasn’t really his thing, he worked at the State Bank of the Lakes for a few years before really retiring in December of 1992. Henry joined St. Peter Church in Antioch in 1957 where he helped as an usher, and quickly became active in many groups such as Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, and was an original Footlights Committee member. Henry was an active member of PM & L Theater both on stage, landing his first role in 1967 as the sheriff in “The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker”, and behind the curtains, building many sets along the way. He and his wife received PM & L’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He, along with his wife, became very active in the community, receiving the Antioch VIP Award in 1977. They remained active after they moved to Salem, WI in 1997. His favorite hobbies were painting and building, or designing things. He built houses, sets and props, and toys large and small for his children and grandchildren. He loved teaching these skills to his children and grandchildren and building things with them. His mind was always planning his next project he would be working on.
Survivors include his children, Suzanne Apostal of Richmond, IL, Peter (Joelle) Apostal of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Henry Apostal II of Salem, WI, Joseph (Tina) Apostal of Johnsburg, IL, Christopher (Tania) Apostal of Gurnee, IL, Julianne (Michael) Ocwieja of Twin Lakes, WI, Dianne (Bret) Mumenthaler of Antioch, IL, Tricia (Stephen) Roehrig of Racine, WI, and son-in-law, Michael Knox of Lincolnshire, IL; a brother, Nicholas (Marilyn) Apostal of Crystal Lake, IL; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
