      Chester A. Ray, 92, of Sandown, NH, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 in the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, NH. Mr. Ray was born in Sandown on September 27, 1914, a son of the late Frank and Sarah (McClaren) Ray. Mr. Ray lived in Sandown most of his life, and lived in his present home since 1938. He had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for R.E. Webber. Mr. Ray had served on the Sandown Police Dept., and towards his retirement, he worked for the town road agent.
       He is survived by his daughter, Ruth M. Palmer and her husband Mannie of Sandown; three grandchildren, Kevin Palmer of Pittsfield, NH, Donna McConnachie of Methuen, MA and Michael Palmer of Sandown; also by several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Georgie May (Milbury) Ray who died in 1994.
       There are no calling hours. Following cremation, burial will be in the Center Cemetery in Sandown in the spring. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements.
