    • Bruce Boutall has been police office in Athol, Mass. Known for his quick wit, Casella thanked those in attendance and credited his wife Mary with his passing the test and for helping him through the studying.He thanked officers in the rotunda and said " I owe alot of what I am as a cop to Jim Bouchard."He then quipped right back and said " I owe alot of what I am not as a cop to Bruce Boutall."( a recent retired Athol Police Officer) – source: Athol Daily News, 29 Nov 2001.

      ORANGEDavid Bruce Boutall, 73, of East River Street, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Athol Hospital after being stricken ill earlier at home.
       Born in Athol on June 18, 1941, he was a son of David H. and Flora A. (May) Boutall and grew up in Petersham, Dennis on Cape, and in Florida where he graduated from high school. Bruce, as he was known by, enlisted into the United States Navy on January 7, 1960 and was honorably discharged on June 21, 1963. He served during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Cuba during the Cuban missile crisis.
       On August 7, 1965, Bruce married Sandra L. (Goselin) and celebrated their 49th anniversary last month. In 1973, Bruce joined the Athol Police Department and loved working in the community. The police brotherhood was a huge part of his life and he greatly enjoyed sharing stories with his fellow officers throughout the state. He retired in 2001.
       Bruce was known to be a very friendly and talkative person who enjoyed visiting with numerous people, either in person or on the telephone. He had many fond memories of Petersham and would take many drives through the town. Bruce enjoyed fishing and doing yard work, but most of all was spending time with his family.
       Survivors include his beloved wife, Sandra Boutall of Orange; children, Lee Aldrich of Connecticut and Chris Aldrich of Orange, and Shannon Legare and her husband, Richard, of Orange; grandchildren, Danielle Legare and her fiancé, Kurtis Woessner, Nicole Legare and Taylor Legare, all of Orange, Michael Shick of North Carolina, Alexander Aldrich and Eric Aldrich, both of Orange; a great grandson, Logan Woessner; siblings, Abbe Sargent and her husband, Leonard, of North Ft. Meyers, Florida, Deborah Meunier and her husband, Kenneth, of Templeton, Gordon Ganson and his wife, Linda, of Petersham, Heather Ganson and her fiancé, Robert Cogswell, of Barre, Monique Chicoine and her husband, Terry, of Athol, Alan Chicoine of Phillipston, and Leo Chicoine and his wife, Katie, of Athol; father in law, Herbert Bushee of Greenfield; and many nephews and nieces.
       Besides his parents, Bruce was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Stowell.
       Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange. Words of remembrance will be offered by family and friends at 12 noon on Saturday, October 4th at Witty’s Funeral Home in Orange. Interment, with military honors, will follow in South Cemetery, Orange.
