- [S4] Obituary.
Jean Lutes, 89, of Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton and formerly of Steeves Mountain, with her family at her side, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday evening, February 24, 2012. Born at West Kilbride, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late George and Jane (Miller) Templeton. Jean moved with her family to Canada at the age of 4, settling in the tiny community of Springhill, just outside of Havelock. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and looked forward to the Templeton family reunions. Jean spent most of her adult life working the family farm with her husband, Raymond. She was a woman of simple tastes who asked little out of life. She lived for her family, reading the morning paper, cutting her clippings and watching TV, especially hockey. Jean was a lifelong Leafs fan, listening to Foster Hewitt on Saturday night on the battery operated radio with her family. She was a member of the Steeves Mountain Baptist Church and in later years, attended Lutz Mountain Church of the Nazarene, as well as being a life member of the Steeves Mountain Women’s Missionary Society. Jean will be sadly missed by her husband of nearly 70 years, Raymond Lutes; son, Brian Lutes (Nancy); grandchildren, Angela Cleghorn (Bill) and Geoffrey Lutes (Christina); along with her sister, Georgina Alward; sisters-in-law, Gladys Templeton and Vera Templeton; brother-in-law, Grant Pringle; as well as a very special little girl named Hannah Smith. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two infant children; brothers, Sam, Jim and Hugh; sisters, Rachel and Nellie and brother-in-law, Foster Alward. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday February 27, 2012 at 1:30pm with Rev. Dale Thistle officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Steeves Mountain Cemetery.
