Edna Davis (Slipp) Bridges, 1928-2017
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on February 7th, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Born at Lower Cambridge, NB, she was the daughter of the late Leigh and Gertrude (Davis) Slipp and wife of the late Harry Bridges.
Edna was a graduate of the Provincial Normal School and taught in Jemseg and Sheffield for many years. She was a member of the Lakeville Corner Baptist Church and was active in many of the church ministries as well as in the community. She also worked as an agent for Stanley Mutual.
Edna is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Bridges and Margaret Powers (John) of Fredericton; grandchildren, Melanie Elhossainy (Mo) of London, UK, Scott Powers (Krista) of Moncton, NB, Andrew Powers (Kathryn) of Vancouver, BC, and Julie Powers of Toronto, ON; great granddaughter, Mya Elhossainy of London, UK; sisters, Marion Morrison of Quispamsis, NB, and Doris Sanborn of Bangor, ME; brother, George Slipp of Codys, NB. She was predeceased by her sisters, Leigha Pepe and Ida Bovatt; brothers, Fred and Charles Slipp.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York St., on Friday, February 10th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Aubrey Trail officiating. Interment will take place in Upper Maugerville Baptist Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Edna’s memory to the MS Society or NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
