      PORTSMOUTH< — Funeral services for Martha Cournoyer, who died April 4, 2002, were held Friday morning at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home in Kittery. The Rev. George Wardwell, pastor of the Kittery Point Baptist Church, conducted services. Alfred LaPoint was organist. Some of Mrs. Cournoyer’s favorite hymns were played during the service.
       A graveside committal service and burial followed in Orchard Grove Cemetery, Kittery. Rev. Wardwell offered committal prayers. Pallbearers were Tom Erickson, Jim Erickson, Bob Watkins, Steve Robbins, Ken Robbins and Ken Foy.
      Arrangements were under the direction of the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery.

      PORTSMOUTHMartha Katherine (Erickson) Cournoyer, 92, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth.
       She was born March 11, 1910, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Henry and Maude (Forrence) Erickson. She attended local schools and for many years worked in the housekeeping and dietary departments at the old Portsmouth Hospital. She also worked at the former Gold Craft Shoe Company and also the former Little Yankee Shoe Company, which were located in Portsmouth.
       She was a former Pithian Sister and a former member of the Moose Lodge of Portsmouth. In her leisure time, she loved making afghans. She made one for every member of her family. She was a wonderful housekeeper and took pride in her home and family.
       In April of 1933 she married Earl Cournoyer in Kittery, Maine. Her husband died in 1970. She is survived by a stepdaughter, Shirley Erickson of Portsmouth; and two stepgrandchildren, Thomas Erickson of Marietta, Ga., and Ellen Pongrance of Tulsa, Okla. She was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers.
