DEATH OF CHARLES HOLLAND — A telegram was received Monday afternoon by Earl Holland telling of the death of his father, Charles W. Holland, 54 years old, at his home in San Bernardino, Calif. Death came either early that morning or the night before.
Mr. and Mrs. Holland left here on september 8th last for California, in hopes of benefiting Mr. Holland’s health, he being a great sufferer from asthma. They located at Arrowhead Springs and he secured employment at the painter and decorator at the big hotel in that place. He got along nicely for a time and his health seemed to improve, but there came a change for the worse, and his physician advised him to move to another place. this they did and landed a few days since at San Bernardino.
Mr. Holland was born in Ogden, August 3, 1861, and was a twin brother of Ed. D. Holland, of this city. Knightstown has been his home since childhood and he was well-known here.
The body will arrive here this Friday morning. No arrangements for the funeral will be made until after that time. Besides his wife he leaves one son, Earl Holland, by a former wife, Eva Reeves. He also leaves four brothers – William, Henry, Edward and Tiffin, and one sister, Mrs. Lee Small. Deceased was a member of the Friends church, and was also a Mason and Modern Woodman.

The Knightstown (IN) Banner, Friday, June 9, 1916:
The funeral of Charles W. Holland, whose body arrived here from San Bernardino, Calif., last Friday morning, was held at the Friends church Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Willis bond, the pastor. It was an automobile funeral and was attended by the Masonic fraternity, the deceased being a member of the Golden Rule lodge, No. 16, F. & A.M., of this city. A large number of relatives and friends were present. Owing to weather conditions the lodge service was given at the church.
