      WEAVER, JAMES HENRY JR. – 93, of Maplestone Enhanced Care, (formerly the Fairview Villa), Halifax, NS, died January 23, 2004. Born in Halifax, NS on June 28, 1910, he was the son of the late James Henry Sr. and F. Genevieve (Christian) Weaver and husband of the late Iris Marion (Awalt) Weaver. Following the death of his parents at a young age from tuberculosis, Jim was raised by his Aunt Maria (“Rydie”) Weaver. He was a survivor of the Halifax Explosion in 1917. Jim worked for Moir’s Chocolate Factory Ltd., starting as an office boy at the age of 15 and worked his way up to paymaster before retiring after 50 years of service. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting, snaring rabbits and fishing. Jim lived on Roslyn Road for many of his 64 married years. Jim and Iris also enjoyed spending time at their cottage in River John, NS. He was a long- time member of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church and a man of great faith.
       Surviving are son-in-law, Raymond Lloyd (Donna), Saint John, NB; four grandchildren, Andy Lloyd (Colleen), Aurora, ON; Janet Clinton (Chris) and Heather Lloyd, Saint John, NB; Jennifer Langille (Mark), Tatamagouche, NS; eight great grandchildren, Emily, Ian and Sean Lloyd, Matthew, Meredith and Anna Clinton, Jack and Beth Langille; one sister-in-law, Olive MacDonald, Tantallon, NS; nephews, Jim Weaver (Phyllis) and John Weaver (Beatrice).
       He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Bonnie Lloyd; son, Paul Weaver; brothers, Frederick, and Edward; sister, Gertrude.
       Visitation will be 2-4 pm and 7-9pm on Sunday in Snow’s Funeral Home, Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday in St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Bayer’s Rd, Halifax, Rev. Ken Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Bonnie Lloyd Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o 17 Ray Street, Saint John, N.B. E2K 2K3 or to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
