“Capt.” William T. Hancort, died Wednesday (June 28, 2000). He was born December 3, 1911 in Bridgeport, son of the late Frank and Mary (Scheck) Hancort. Capt. Hancort had been a resident of Avon since 1946 and was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Florence Harriet (Taylor) Hancort in 1989.

In his later years he derived much pleasure from his hobby of model tug boat building. He was a long time member of the Avon Congregational Church, a member of the American Pilots Association and the Avon Golf Club.
