F.G. Reese, Ex-Banker Here Dies Frank G. Reese, Sr, 81, a former banker here, died at 6:45 pm Sunday in his home. He had been ill with a circulatory ailment for about nine months.
Mr. Reese was born Sept. 12, 1880 at Faulkner, Iowa. His parents were the late Nicholas and Edwina Reese. His mother died in 1896 and his father died in 1917. One brother, Charles, and one sister, Ella Townsan, also proceded him in death.
At the age of 17 years he started working for the Burlington-Cedar Rapids Railroad. This railroad was later bought out by the Rock Island Railroad. Mr. Reese was a railroad depot agent until 1919.
Some of the other positions he held were cashier in the First National Bank; manager of Gamble Store at Northwood; Reese Variety Store, St. Ansgar, and a bookkeeper for Mobil Oil Co., Albert Lea. He retired several years ago.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church here. He belonged to the Chamber of Commerce, the Masonic Lodge and was interested in the Boy Scout program. At one time he served on the Charter committee when a petition was circulated to change the Albert Lea City form of management from mayor to city manager.
Mr. Reese married Bessie Boyd in 1902. She died in 1930. He was re-married to Edna Olson Madson, Nov 21, 193 at Nashua, Iowa.
Besides his wife Edna; he is survived by one son, Frank B. Reese Jr, Bothell, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Carrie Pabst, Long Beach, Calif.; three grandsons, Boyd R., Albert Lea; Brian C in Washington and Frank L. at Excelsior; five great-grandchildren, and one niece and two nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday in First Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. The Rev. Meldford S. Knutson will officiate. Friends may call at the Bonnerup & Son Funeral Home Tuesday and until time of service Wednesday.
