CECIL STEVENS IS BURIED ON SUNDAY
Rites Held From Methodist Church – Rev. Raiston in Charge
Funeral services for Cecil Stevens were held at 2:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon from the Methodist church at Ocheyedan with the Rev. Raiston in charge. Burial was in the Ocheyedan cemetery.
Mr. Stevens passed away at a Sibley hospital June 1, suffering from complications from an attack of the flu which he had had two months previously.
Cecil Stevens, third of six children born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stevens, was born in Osceola county December 16, 1900. He grew to manhood in the Ocheyedan community and received his education in the rural school near his home and at the Ocheyedan high school.
June 19, 1924, he was united in marriage to Miss Lyrell M. Paisley of Ocheyedan. They settled on a farm south of Ocheyedan where they lived for 11 years. Three children were born to them.
In 1936 he decided to engage in trucking and they moved to Ocheyedan where he since resided.
Mr. Stevens is survived by his wife, three children, Maurice, Joyce and Mary Nell; by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stevens of Sibley; by three brothers and one sister, Hugh and Kenneth Stevens of Sibley, Ralph Stevens of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Glen Attig of Sibley.
