DOLORES JEAN WOOTEN, age 81 of Del Norte, Colorado and formerly of Des Moines, New Mexico, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Good Friday, April 2, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Dolores was born June 22, 1928 in Spokane, Washington to Edwin and Grace Bailey Hopkinson. She was a beloved member of the Folsom/Des Moines community for most of her life, enjoying ranching, gardening, horseback riding, bridge, and homemaking. She was fiercely loyal, dedicated, and passionate about her family, putting them first, even above herself. Dolores was a beautiful countrywoman through and through, a tough old gal who did not shy away from hard work and persevered through all hardships. She loved the Lord and relied on Him daily to give her strength.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ben Wooten of the family home; two sons, Daryl Wooten and wife, Lisa of Las Cruces and Glen Wooten and wife, Rita of Del Norte, Colorado; one daughter, Doris Jean Rhodes and husband, Wayne of Valparaiso, Indiana; one sister, Patricia Allen of Edgewood, New Mexico. Other survivors include her eleven grandchildren, Danielle, Collette, Gabriel, Shannon, Chad, Krystal, Matthew, Joseph, Aprile, Andy and Matthew, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Collins.
Ben and Dolores recently made their new home in southern Colorado, enjoying the mountains and family activities. She will be honored there at a Memorial Service at 2 PM on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 7228 County Road 14, Del Norte, Colorado 81132.
