BUXTON —
Erland “Yo Yo” W. Emery, 76, of Groveville Road, died on Feb. 12, 2013, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough after a lengthy illness. He was born in Westbrook on Dec. 23, 1936, the son of late Everett and Virginia (Bell) Emery. He attended Buxton schools and is a graduate of Buxton High School. Erland proudly served his country by enlisting into the U.S. Air Force.
On Nov. 17, 1957, he married Leona Lermond and together they raised a family and built their home in Buxton. After a brief employment at Maine Metal and Finishing, he went to work for S.D. Warren where he worked until his retirement in 1994. He truly enjoyed auto racing. He built and drove his own stock car for many years at Beech Ridge Speedway and Oxford Plains Speedway. He enjoyed working on cars and antique cars as well as working with metals. He will be missed by all and never forgotten.
He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 56 years, Leona; sons, Randy and his wife Liza of Virginia Beach, Paul and his wife Helen of Standish, Chris and his wife Donna of Buxton, and Timothy of Buxton, daughter, Peggy Emery of Buxton; aunt Betty Baker of Fryeburg; brothers, Robert and his wife Edie, Richard and his wife Melissa, and Alan and his wife Stacy, all of Buxton, sister, Joan Weeman and her husband Robert of Buxton; nine grandchildren; many great- grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no services at Erland’s request. Arrangements are with Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home – Buxton www.DCPate.com. Erland’s family would like to thank the staff on the ’A- unit’ at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough for their care and support.
