HUBBARD – Janice M. Richards, 81, passed away unexpectedly at the hospital on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 with family by her side. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, John, who preceded her in death. Janice was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Youngstown, the daughter of Ralph B. and Helen C. (Graham) Caldwell. In her youth, she was involved in activities at the First Presbyterian Church and was a 1951 graduate of The Rayen School, where she was active in speech. Prior to her marriage, she worked in the offices of the G.M. McKelvey Co. and the Mahoning National Bank. She married her husband, John M. Richards, on March 12, 1960. Together they shared more than 54 years of marriage before his death on Nov. 22, 2014. Janice was a homemaker who took pride in her home and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and family travels. She had a creative soul and enjoyed drawing and painting. Honesty and integrity guided her through life. Her strength and encouragement provided comfort to many. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Marcia (Edgar) Spaulding of San Pedro, Calif., Pamela Richards of Columbia, S.C., and Jill (Lawrence) Divita of Berea; and her granddaughter, Leah Spaulding of San Pedro. She also leaves her three sisters, Shirley (Joseph) Rendano, Ruth Cramer, and Nancy Kovach, all of Youngstown; her brother, Ralph (Terry-Ann) Caldwell of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Caldwell; and brothers-in-law Richard Cramer and John Kovach. There will be calling hours on Monday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home in Hubbard, with a memorial service at 1 p.m. Janice will be laid to rest next to her husband at Belmont Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
