BANGOR —
Rodney W. Spaulding, 75, died peacefully on January 5, 2016 at the Bangor Veteran’s Home. He was born March 30, 1940 in Detroit, ME. He was born the son of Charles E. Spaulding, Jr. and Violet M. (Tilton) McIntosh and was raised by his loving foster mother, Cora Hodson.
He graduated from Maine Central Institute and served in the US Air Force for 8 years where he developed his mechanical skills as a jet engine mechanic. After his service he was employed by Pratt & Whitney and General Electric. He also tinkered on small engines in his spare time. His passion in life was music and he also enjoyed auto racing, puzzles, and flowers. He was a devoted Christian and was a member of the Twin City Baptist Church in Brewer.
He is survived by three daughters and one son. Loretta Spaulding of Bristol, CT, Janet Courtois and her husband Bryan of Saco, Sherrie Spaulding of Brewer and Brent Spaulding and his wife Pamela of Brewer. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kathleen, Nicholas, Dane, Lance, Allysa, Kelsey, Sarah and Jacob, and one great granddaughter, Ava.
A committal service will be held in the spring at the Corinthian Cemetery in Corinth, ME. Donations in his honor can be made to: Ward E Activities Fund, Maine Veterans Home, 44 Hogan Rd. Bangor, ME 04401.
