JACKSONVILLE —
Marjorie Frances Day, 92. of Jacksonville and formerly of Peoria, died Sunday morning, Dec. 22, 2002, in Jacksonville.
She was born Oct. 4, 1910. in Jacksonville, the daughter of Jesse Edwin and Martha Isabell Anders McCarthy. She married William “Gordon” Day July 16, 1944, in Peoria, and he preceded her in death in 1975.
She is survived by one son. William “Michael” (wife. Patricia) Day of Silsbee, Texas; one daughter, Barbara Hazelrigg Bates of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; four step grandchildren; two brothers, Carl McCarthy of Seattle, Wash., and Everett (wife. Shasta) McCarthy of Dothan. Ala.; one sister. Betty Farmer of Dombard; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Fred M. Hazelrigg; one step daughter. Myra Jean Wilkins; one daughter in infancy; four sisters. Pauline Harris. Helen Juanita McCarthy, Iva Dell McCarthy and Mina Dawson; and two brothers, Jess and John “Bus” McCarthy.
Mrs. Day enjoyed sewing and traveling. Following cremation, graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church. Cody & Son Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
