CANFIELD – John R. Kovach Jr., 41, passed away at home on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009. John was born on May 16, 1968 in Youngstown, the son of John R. Kovach Sr. and Nancy (Caldwell) Kovach. John graduated from Byzantine Catholic Central Elementary School in Poland and was a 1986 graduate of Chaney High School in Youngstown. He was a sports enthusiast in his youth and participated in basketball, football, baseball, bowling, and track and field. He attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from Youngstown State University in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. John was a licensed insurance agent and was the founder, owner and president of the Kovach Insurance Group. His company sponsored various youth athletic teams and other charitable events. John also was founder and president of KovCom Inc., a filmmaking company. He was a member of St. Columba Cathedral and the Greek Catholic Union. He leaves his loving wife, Dr. Pamela Guerriere-Kovach, whom he married on June 8, 1996, and his three beloved children, Priscilla, Jonathan and Erica, all of Canfield; his parents of Youngstown; and his sister, D’Arcy Kovach, of Cleveland. He was a son-in-law of John and Barbara Guerriere of Canfield. John will always be remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was an extremely devoted family man and the best father to his children. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Matilda (Duritza) Kovach of Campbell, and Ralph and Helen (Graham) Caldwell of Youngstown. Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 3 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. at St. Columba Cathedral, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home in Youngstown.
