William E. "Bill" Tremble, 85, of Oregon died Thursday Feb. 5, 2009 in his home. He was born March 9, 1923 in Oregon the son of William & Eupha Farrell Tremble.
He married Lois Rowe July 1, 1945 in Oregon. Bill served in the US Navy from 1943-1947 and graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1949. He then joined the Farrell Funeral Home which he owned and operated until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon, the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, Mt. Morris Moose Lodge # 1551, Oregon Golf Club, Mt. Morris Golf Club, and was a 60 year member of the Oregon Masonic Lodge. Bill was also considered a local historian.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; daughter, Marla (Al McClelland) Tremble of Dixon; sons, Gregory (Cherri), Jeffery (Joyce), and Brian all of Oregon; grandchildren, Jason (Becky) Tremble, Tiffani (Tim) Williams, Brandon (Erin) Tremble, and Eric Tremble all of Oregon, Melissa (Aaron) Beaty of Dekalb, Ashley (Tom) Stahl of Sycamore, Jarrod (Amy) Tremble of Rockford, Andrew Tremble of Darien, IL, Amy (Matt Terbush) Burkitt of Tampico, and Cleveland (Kasy) Burkitt, III of Aliso Viejo, CA; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Gary, grandson, Justin Tremble, sisters, Pauline Hefty and Lucille Kitson, and brother, Lester "Bud" Tremble.
Funeral services will be held Monday Feb. 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. 7th St., Oregon with Rev. Yong Min Hong officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00--6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Oregon or Ogle County Hospice.
