Mr. Frederick Kernighan, of Maple Glen, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 73. Born in St George, he was the son of the late Adams and Evelyn (McGarriagle) Kernighan. He was retired from the Acadia Mill, and was a member of St James & St John United Church in Maple Glen. He was an avid bowler, and loved to go fishing, hunting, and canoeing. He will be sadly missed by his wife Marvel (Smallwood) Kernighan; his three daughters Maureen (Allen Carruthers) of Miramichi, April (Roger Beaulieu) of Miramichi, and Darlene (Duane Goodfellow) of Virginia, USA; his three sons Guy Jardine (Margaret) of Miramichi, Brian Kernighan of Vancouver, BC, and Mark Kernighan (Trudy) of Saint John; his sister Theresa Hallock (Boyd) of Miramichi; his brother-in-law Hubert Sherrard; his 10 grandchildren Crystal, Monique, Tanya, Arlen, Darcy, Adam, Amanda, Stephen, Afton, and Jeremie; his four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters Helen Somers and Laura Sherrard. The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Monday, December 5, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Northumberland Funeral Home, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 11 am, with Rev. John Fraser officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Maple Glen Cemetery Fund, or to a memorial of one’s choice.
