Laurie Edward Fulton – 75, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday morning, January 7, 2017, at The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro. He was a son of the late Neil and Evelyn (Wood) Fulton.
Born in Truro with his twin sister, Laurel, they lived in Stewiacke for the first five years, and then the family moved to Amherst where Laurie attended school until his graduation from Amherst High School. He then attended Provincial Normal College in Truro from 1959-1961, graduating in Industrial Arts and received the coveted "Silver N" award. He taught at Amherst Regional High School for 16 years before moving to Truro where he spent several years working at Home Hardware on Willow Street. Moving to Truro meant that he was close to the family’s beloved cottage at Shortts Lake. Laurie loved music and during his early years played the violin while Laurel played the piano.
He was a member of Saint Andrew’s United Church and a former member of Session. He sang for many years with Trinity-St. Stephen’s Choir in Amherst, Cantabile choir, Saint Andrew’s Senior and Men’s choirs and The Forefathers Four Quartet.
