Aileen B. Wright, 92, of Jacksonville died Tuesday morning, January 8, 2008 at Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville. She was born November 19, 1915 in Jacksonville the daughter of James and Mamie Martin Burge. She married Roy A. Wright on August 26, 1951 in Jacksonville and he preceded her in death on January 13, 2000. Mrs. Wright was a 1937 graduate of Illinois College. In 1939 she attended Northwestern University where she trained in Medical Technology and also served as an instructor until 1943. She then returned to Jacksonville to become Bacteriologist at the Jacksonville State Hospital until 1958 at which time she became Chief Medical Technologist at Passavant Area Hospital and served in this capacity until 1966.She then began teaching Science at Turner Junior High School in Jacksonville until her retirement in 1974. In addition to her full time schedules, she taught Microbiology for 3 years at Our Saviour’s Hospital and Passavant Hospital and for 15 years at Illinois College. She was a member of Central Christian Church and served as the first President of the Springfield District of the Illinois Medical Technologists Association and later as President of the Illinois Medical Technologists Association. Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
