Irene M. Nye
Retired Clyde kindergarten teacher
Irene M. Nye, 72, of 222 N. Leonard St., Green Springs, died in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Lucas, Toledo, Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1998.
Born May 30, 1926, in Toledo to Carl and Alice M. (Schroeder) Terwilliger, she married Robert D. Nye in 1947 in the Lutheran Church, Clyde. He died in December 1972.
Survivors include: two daughters, Elissa Marie Alcala and Mary Ann Nye, both of Green Springs; four grandchildren, Joy Marie Lin, Rory Robert Alcala, Kristie Lynn and Sarah Marie Popoca; and a brother, Grove Terwilliger of Nebraska.
Mrs. Nye, a graduate of Nebraska City High School, retired as a kindergarten teacher from the Clyde Schools, after 22 years of employment. She attended Antioch College and graduated from Bowling Green State University.
Also a village council clerk and council woman for 30 years, she was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
Private graveside services in Green Springs Cemetery will be 1 p.m. Friday.
There will be an open memorial service at Calvary United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Friday.
The Rev. Lori Burdette-Steele will officiate.
There will be no visitation. The Turner-Engle Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangments.
Memorials may be made to the church or Green Springs Stemtown Historical Society.
