Elaine Louise Van Dyke, 85, of Sioux City died Friday, July 10, 1998, at a Sioux City nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Larkin Northside Funeral Home with Monsignor Frank J. Brady and the Rev. Marvin Mueller officiating. Private burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Van Dyke was born on Feb. 8, 1913, the daughter of Guy and Naomi (Terwilliger) Andrews. She graduated from Central High School and attended Milwaukee Downer College. She married John William Van Dyke on June 10, 1939, in Sioux City. He died July 1, 1981, in Sioux City.
She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She was on the board of the YWCA, the Mary Elizabeth Day Care Center and Crippled Children’s Board. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Junior League, Questors and American Girls.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Tom and Kathy Van Dyke of Sioux City and John and Mary Van Dyke of San Francisco, and four grandchildren, Jason and Jeff Van Dyke and Bill and Jane Van Dyke.
Memorials may be sent in her name to the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
