      Ruth Vera Bowen, 87, of Whiting Lane, Brownington, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2006 at the home she was born in and lived her whole life in.
       She was born on January 22, 1919, the daughter of George and Adeline (Skinner) Young. On February 12, 1937 at the age of 18 she married Eben E. Bowen, who predeceased her in 1982. Ruth went to Cole Hill graded school and graduated from West Charleston High School. She and her husband farmed for many years in Brownington, and she enjoyed working the land and all that went with farming and especially sugaring with her husband. She was a member of the Brownington Grange #279.
       Ruth is survived by her brother, Alton Young of West Charleston, and by nieces and nephews.
       Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 14 at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home, Darling Hill Road, Newport (formerly Sias Ave.) at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Roger Fletcher officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Spring interment will take place at the West Charleston cemetery.
