    1. [S4] Obituary.
Cartwright-Marion Edith (Chute), Halifax and Bear River. February 15, 1921 to November 3, 2014. — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and best friend. Born in Montreal, Marion was the daughter of the late William Henry Chute and Margaret Nesbitt (Baker) Chute.
After completing her school years in Montreal, Marion became a teacher and then went into nursing. While posted as a RCN nurse at Stadacona in 1945, she met Brian, a patient, who was to become her husband for 60 years. She spent many happy years in Bedford and then Bear River, always enjoying her gardens, feathered friends and nature. She was an avid reader and contributed as a volunteer to many organizations.
Marion is survived by her daughter Patricia ( Wayne ) Shattuck, Portuguese Cove and son John (partner Heather Cameron) Cartwright, Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her husband Brian and brother Donald Chute.
Deepest thanks to the caring staff at Melville Lodge, Halifax and to her devoted caregivers Seretha Balcom and Joe Gesner, Bear River. A service will take place at a later date. In memory of Marion, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society or to a charity of choice.
