Charles (Bill) Skinner, 89 of Coldbrook and formerly South Berwick, NS passed away on May 11, 2016 in the Valley Regional Hospital. He was the son of the late Margaret and Theo Skinner. Bill worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator, farmer, and snow plow driver followed by fifteen years at Weavexx. His retirement years were filled with many interests including his woodlot, gardening, fixing and restoring old engines and chainsaws. Most recently his passion was supporting and contributing to the history of farming through the Northville Farm Heritage Centre. He was also a member of the Nova Scotia Antique Engine & Tractor Association. He and son Tom were named Woodlot Owners of the Year for 2000. His love of dogs, particularly German Shepherds, was evident, with one at his side or riding with him on a tractor or backhoe on the farm in South Berwick. He is survived by his wife of sixty years Doris (Chute), daughters Anna (Jack) Schofield of Coldbrook, Mary (Wendy Russell) of Lower Sackville, son Tom (Susan) Skinner of Millville, four grandchildren, Kim (John) Hill, Shannon (Chris) MacInnis, Matthew (Sarah) Skinner, Christa (Steph Irving) Skinner, seven great-grandchildren, Julie and Madalyn Hill, Nathan, Avery, and Charlee MacInnis, and John and Ava Skinner, and brother Richard (Jo-Ann) Skinner of Cambridge. Bill was predeceased by not only his parents but a brother John as well as a sister-in-law Veronica. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900). A service will be held on May 17, 2016, at 2:00 pm in the Berwick Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Berwick Cemetery. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Northville Farm Heritage Centre or a charity of choice.
