      CHUTE, Lewis McNeill “Lew” — Age 86, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018, in Orchard Villa West, Berwick. Born in Berwick, he was a son of the late Douglas L. and Bertha E. (McNeill) Chute.
       Lewis had been a hard worker all of his life and was well known in the Annapolis Valley area. He had started six businesses that included soft drink, concrete, excavation/sand & gravel, swimming pools, mobile homes and lastly land development & subdivisions. Lewis was an adherent of Weston Christian Fellowship Church and a veteran member of Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department. He was a life member of Berwick & District Lions Club, receiving the Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship in 2015. Lewis was a founding member of the Apple Capital Society and had been inducted into the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame for Hockey. He loved his family and in particular the grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed being able to watch their games of sports. In retirement, Lewis and Inez were able to travel on many occasions. He also loved the times spent with his coffee buddies.
       Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Inez I. Nauss; daughter, Kathryn (Robert) Morse, Windermere; son, Gordon (Susan) Chute, Edmonton, Alta.; grandchildren, Erin Keddy, Nathan Morse, Jason, Jennifer Chute, Joselyn Smith; great-grandchildren, Liam, Kaylynn, Jaydon, Cohen, Kaleb, Kendell, Karsen, Maxwell, Mikayla, Hudson and Andre; chosen granddaughter, Mindy Hupman; sisters, Shirley (the late Bernie) Irvine, Berwick; Lillian (Lewis) Irvine, Hantsport; sisters-in-law, Velma Dibartolo, Edmonton, Alta.; Thelma (Harris) Huntley, Windermere; several nieces and nephews.
       Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Thelma Chute; brothers-in-law, Charles Barkhouse and George Dibartolo; sister-in-law, Mabel (Clyde) Vaughan; nephew, Gregory Irvine.
       Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, in Weston Christian Fellowship Church, 3611 Brooklyn St., Weston, from where the funeral service will take place at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 28. Pastor David Hanson officiating, with a reception following in Berwick & District Lions Hall. Interment in Berwick Cemetery, at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Berwick & District Volunteer Fire Department or Berwick & District Lions Club.
