Frances Fraser Taylor passed away in her sleep on 16 February 2012 at Eastside Medical where she was being treated for pneumonia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Alfred F. Taylor, and is survived by her three children and their spouses; Nancy and Roy Ginsburg, Larry and Jan Taylor, Susan and Robert Madara, and four grandchildren.
She was a loving wife and mother, partner, mentor, grandmother, and at all times a teacher; her star pupils were her children. She passed on to them a love of the outdoors, a sense of humor, a sense of compassion for others, an ethic of right and wrong, and a willingness to work at life.
Frances was born in 1924 in Clinton MA to James Fraser and Zephina Chute Fraser and grew up with her sister Mae and elder brother Perry. After graduating from college at Fitchburg State Teachers College in Fitchburg, MA, she taught school for seven years. She met her husband at her sister’s wedding when he served as Best Man and she as Maid of Honor; they married on August 25, 1951. They raised their three children in Bernardsville, NJ where she was active in the First Presbyterian Church. They moved to Flemington NJ, and on retirement to Brevard, NC where they were both active in Habitat for Humanity and the Brevard Davidson River Presbyterian Church. Following her husband’s death she moved to Atlanta, GA, to be near her daughter, Susan. She touched people with her character, her love, and her sense of humor. Through all of her adult life she brightened the lives of many with her beautiful sewing and craftwork, including garments used in mission outreach, blockprint and handpainted Christmas cards, and floral greeting cards. She will be remembered, and missed.
