It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
Ermie Utah Dowding at Maplestone Nursing Home, Halifax formerly from St. Margaret’s Bay at age 93. Born on December 30 1919 in Woodville N.S., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Rita (Cogswell) MacLean.
Ermie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener and loved to dabble in landscape painting. She worked at Sears for many years. She loved to bowl and belonged to a league. She was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church and a member of the ACW. She was also a member of the White Caps Seniors Group and enjoyed many trips with the group. Ermie is survived by her sons, Larry, Hd. of St. Margaret’s Bay; Ron (Barb), Hubley; granddaughters, Amanda (Mark Richard), Hd. of St. Margaret’s Bay; Natasha (Gavin Mills), Hillsburgh, ONT.; great grandson, Mason Richard; brother, Scott (Ruth) McLean, Woodville; Predeceased by her husband George and her son Peter in infancy; daughter-in-law, Cathy.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday January 11th in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggys Cove Road, Upper Tantallon. Graveside service will be held 1pm Saturday January 12th in St. Georges Anglican Church Cemetery, Hd. Of St. Margaret’s Bay. Rev. Brieanna Andrews officiating. Family flowers only. The family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful staff at Maplestone Nursing Home for the excellent care of Mom has received over the last several years and donations can be made to Maplestone Nursing Home in Memory of Ermie or St. George’s Anglican Church.
