  Valory Messier completed her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1998 and the Master of Arts in Sociology in 2000 at Sacramento State University. She started working with the Institute in 1998 as a graduate assistant. She became a full-time researcher with the Institute in 2001. She has worked on numerous applied research projects conducting research using self-administered, interviewer-administered, phone, mail, and CATI interview formats.
