PHYLLIS ANN (ROWE) FLEISHMAN passed away, Thursday, December 21, 2006 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at the Dallas Center Church of the Brethren, with burial to follow at Brethren Cemetery, Dallas Center, Dallas, Iowa.
Phyllis Ann Rowe was born on a farm near Dallas Center, Iowa to Charlie Glenn and Norma (Mortimer) Rowe on June 9, 1924.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 62 years, Doyle; her children, Charles (Sheila) of Austin, Texas, Wayne (Kathy) of Carlisle, Iowa, Craig (Debra) of Minburn, Iowa; six grandchildren, Garrett (Heidi) Fleishman of Oswego, IL, Elizabeth Fleishman of Austin, TX, Aaron (Lisa) Fleishman of Carlisle, IA, Brenna (David) Johnson of Addison, IL, Abby Fleishman and Rachel Fleishman both of Minburn, Iowa; and great grandchildren, Christian Fleishman, Kasandra Kienbaum, Daelah Fleishman and Marin May Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger Rowe of Dallas Center, Iowa.
Phyllis’ roots were deep in the Dallas Center, Iowa, and Minburn, Iowa, farming communities where she spent her entire life. She graduated from Dallas Center High School, attended Mount Vernon College and Drake University where she received a teaching certificate with a minor in vocal music. She taught for a number of years.
Phyllis had a passion for the things she loved, foremost her family, husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with whom she spent much of her time as wife, mother and homemaker on the family farm near Minburn, Iowa. In 1982 she and her husband moved to their new home in Dallas Center, Iowa.
Phyllis loved music and often brought it into the lives of her family and friends. She was frequently a vocalist at many worship services, weddings, anniversaries, funerals and other occasions. Flowers were also an important part of Phyllis’ life. She enjoyed flowers and surrounded herself with them in every season.
Phyllis was an active member in the Dallas Center Church of the Brethren, Dallas Center, Iowa.
Her family will miss her very much.
Visitation begins after 3 p.m. Tuesday, at the Dallas Center Church of the Brethren where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the dear friends and family who helped with Phyllis’ care and well being during her long illness with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
