Ruth Devore Sarvis, 94, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Edgewater Woods Nursing Home surrounded by members of her family.
Ruth was born on June 12, 1915 in Ogden, Indiana the youngest child of Frederick and Pearl (Small) Leonard. On May 9, 1937, she married Wm. Thomas Devore. They had three children and he passed away in 1987. In 1995, she married Wayne Sarvis, Sr. and he preceded her in death in 1998.
Ruth is survived by her children, Loyce Ann Gardiner of Anderson, John T. Devore (friend, Linda Goodnight) of Indio, CA. and David Wm. (Carol) Devore of Shelbyville, IN. step children, Dennis (Janet) Sarvis of Tennessee, Norma Wolfe of Virginia, Barbara DeMott of Florida, Peggy Waggoner of Terre Haute, IN., Donna (Al) Robbins, Wayne Jr. (Anita) Sarvis, Terry (Carlotta) Sarvis, Velvia (Bobby) Randolph, Rita (Francis) Robinson and Karla Sarvis all of Anderson. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two brothers, a sister and two step sons, Richard (Buster) Sarvis and Wayne Sarvis III.
Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
