Irvin Miller Shackelford went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 28, 2014. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
Irvin was the eldest of six children, born on July 24, 1930, in Eden, MS. While serving in the United States Navy, he met his wife Lorraine, and they married and settled in California. He was a self employed owner of several businesses in the Fresno and Clovis area, among them was Great Western Hardware, and Clovis Janitorial. Irvin was active in his community, being a long time member of SIRS, Fresno Exchange Club, and the Fresno St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; and Son, Gary Shackelford.
Irvin is survived by his son, Jim Shackelford and wife Roberta; daughters, Dianne Avery and husband Tom, and Sue Carlisle and husband Rex; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Shackelford Alexander and husband Steven; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Horizons Healthcare Facility; and his many caregivers from ResCare HomeCare, for their dedicated and loving care during his illness. A Memorial Service at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2435 N. Thesta St., Fresno, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, all remembrances may be sent to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
