      Miriam Louise Small Peggs, 90, of Sumter, SC, widow of James Gregory Peggs, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at her residence following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Honored to officiate is the Reverend Jerry Pickens. A private inurnment will be held in Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Born March 31, 1919, in Knightstown, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Charles Omer Small and Sarah Stites Small. She had been a resident of Sumter for 20 years and was a faithful member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Miriam was talented with her hands and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She will be remembered for her meek spirit and the love she possessed for her family, her friends and her God.
       She is survived by her loving sons, Bruce H. Peggs and his wife, Von, of Sumter, and Richard G. Peggs and his wife, Sue, of Dallas, GA; loving daughter, Nancy J. Peggs-Bean and her husband, Bob, of Hastings, NY; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Peggs was predeceased by a brother, John C. Small, and a sister, Mary Ethel Gordon.
       In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing may direct memorial contributions in Miriam’s memory to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 211 Alice Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
