Theresa “Jane” Smith age 77, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2013 at her home in Largo Florida after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Harry W. Smith Jr. and the daughter of the Louise and John Harrington. Jane was born In Marblehead on March 19, 1936 and lived there until she and Harry retired to Florida in 1998.
She graduated from Marblehead High School in 1954. Jane worked for the New England Telephone Co. and the original Dill’s Restaurant in Marblehead. She retired from the Boston Yacht Club after working there for 25 years. Jane was an avid reader and card player. She was a formidable opponent at Bridge. She retired to Florida because she wanted to be able to sit in the sun year-round and until her illness spent almost everyday at the pool swimming and doing water aerobics. She was loved by all who met her.
She is survived by her daughter, Connee Re and her grandson and his wife, Chris and Melissa Re all of Swampscott. She also leaves her triplet great-granddaughters, Jane, Ryliegh and Abigail due to be born in December. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and well as many life-long friends. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by 3 brothers, Jack, David and Thomas Harrington and 4 sisters, Eleanor Harrington, Ruth Ciampa, Elizabeth Marino and Margaret Waller.

A celebration of life for Jane and Harry will be held on November 24, 2013 at the Vantage Pointe Apartments Clubhouse, Swampscott, MA (across from the Swampscott Cemetery) from 2-5. Please come and share your memories of Jane and Harry with thei r family and friends. Their ashes will be scattered together in Key West, FL at a later date.
