SOUTH PORTLAND —
Maureen Dale Harnden, 68, of South Portland died May 28, 2004 at Maine Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Feb. 26, 1936 in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Daniel and Roberta (Sherburne) Baker. She attended Cambridge schools and graduated from Wakefield High School. She moved to New London, Conn. and lived there for 10 years before moving to Kennebunk to be closer to her family. She was employed as a comptroller at Components Inc. in Kennebunk for more than 25 years. She then decided to further her education by attending the University of Southern Maine as an art and library science major. She also worked at Wal-Mart as a sales associate for more than six years.
A real movie buff, she also enjoyed reading, her flower garden, feeding and watching the birds and spending time with her family.
She is predeceased by a son Kevin R. Harnden in 1989. She is survived by one son Keith R. Harnden and one daughter Kim Laurel Taylor of Industry, Maine; two sisters, Diane P. Emery of Arundel and Margie R. Nickerson of Belfast; seven grandchildren, Erin A., Nathaniel R., Nicholas J. and Sarah E. Taylor, Gregory, Kevin and Sean Harnden.
Private interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Kennebunk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, — Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086-1246. Arrangements are being handled by Bibber Memorial Chapel, Kennebunk.
