SHAPLEIGH —
William L. (Bill) Libby, 61, of Shapleigh, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at Goodall Hospital in Sanford.
Bill was born in Sanford on Jan. 6, 1949, one of four sons born to Lawrence and Bettina (Shaw) Libby and grew up in Sanford; graduating from Sanford High School. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and possessed a great sense of humor and enjoyed listening to the Blues.
Bill was a longtime employee of Pratt & Whitney in No. Berwick and he retired following 18 years of dedicated service. Life changed for Bill in 1988, he married his sweetheart and soul mate, Deborah (Debi) on Feb. 29 – of course it was Leap year! Within this union of marriage, Bill became a father to Nicole and she shared that he was a very good Dad and beloved Grampy Bill.
Over the years, he and Debi traveled and took several vacations to the Caribbean Islands, Mexico; their favorite trip was to Italy. The unhurried lifestyle of the Italians and excellent food and wine proved too hard to resist. Memories and special keepsakes came from these many trips. Bill looked forward to fall – as he would go hunting with his wife and brother Dave. He belonged to many organizations which included the Lafayette Club, Elks Club, Frat Club of all in Sanford and the Springvale Social Club. Bill’s life can not be measured in years, as he lived life fully and shared his love and generous heart with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Debi Libby of Shapleigh; his daughter, Nicole Delano and husband Lester of Waterboro; his three grandchildren, LillyBelle, HazelRose and Darryl who affectionately called him, “Grampy Bill”; his three brothers, John Libby of Sanford, Scott Libby of Austin, Texas, David Libby and wife Donna of Shapleigh; and by his niece, Krista Libby of Sanford and many friends.
