Raoul Lloyd Piersdorf of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, passed away on June 11, 2023 at the age of 94. He was born in 1929 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and he grew up there. Raoul graduated from University of South Dakota with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1957. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a corporal. He worked as a physical education and health teacher and coached swimming, diving and gymnastics. Raoul worked security and janitorial services at Rainbow/Cub Grocers until the age of 87.
Raoul seemingly had an unlimited supply of energy and was nicknamed the ‘Energizer Bunny’. He was fiercely independent and gave generously of his money but more importantly his time. Raoul was a competitive swimmer and diver and a Golden Gloves boxer. He was actively involved in many sports, was an avid golfer, golfing until the age of 92, and enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
Raoul is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Piersdorf (Heitritter). He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Aune; his three children, Debra Hurt, Ronald Piersdorf, Linda Bechtol; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; as well as many step-children and step-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Service at St. Mary of the Lake, 4741 Bald Eagle Ave, White Bear Lake, Minnesota on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 11:00am. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00am. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Raoul’s honor to the family.
