ASTON, Shirley Fairn – 78, Wolfville, passed away suddenly and peacefully in her home, on February 26, 2003. Born in Aylesford, she was a daughter of Leslie R. and Ethel E. (Hutchinson) Fairn.
She lived her early years in Wolfville and was educated at Kings Edgehill. Following marriage, she lived in Liverpool and Halifax before moving in 1967 to Palo Alto, California, where she enjoyed a successful career in interior design. In 1989, Shirley returned “home” to Wolfville, where she resided until her passing.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Edgar “Ed” Aston, Tideways, Wolfville; sons, Gary Foshay, Halifax; Toby Foshay, United Kingdom; Fairn Foshay, California; Laird Foshay, California; daughters, Judy Foshay, New Minas; Stephanie (Foshay) Atkinson, New Minas; grandchildren, Colin, Garrett, Holland, Sam, Jackson, and Angeline, California; Aaron and Cole, New Minas; brothers, Laird Fairn, Albany, Annapolis Co.; Hugh Fairn, Wolfville; sister, Sylvia Cornish, Napa, California.
She was predeceased by husbands, Avard Woodman Foshay and Kenneth S. Benedict; sisters, Alice Fairn Friberg and Ardath Fairn Jones.
There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home Chapel, 568 Main St., Wolfville, Rev. Dr. Neil G. Price and Canon Russell Elliott officiating. Burial will take place in Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
