Kingsford Jones, 84, an architect who designed numerous public buildings in Menlo Park, died Feb. 22 at his home in Atherton, where he had lived since 1942. A native of Canada, he received degrees from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and McGill University in Montreal. He designed the Menlo Park Civic Center; area churches, including Trinity Episcopal; school buildings in the Menlo Park and Las Lomitas districts; and residences, the most recent in 1992. He continued working until a recent illness. He is survived by his wife, Ardath F. Jones of Atherton; four sons, Kingsford F. Jones of Menlo Park, Douglas F. Jones of Portola Valley, Arden K. Jones of Atherton and Bevan C. Jones of Portola Valley; two sisters; and eight grandchildren. Services will be held Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 330 Ravenswood Ave., Menlo Park. Contributions may be made to the Episcopal Convalescent Hospital Ministries, "Echos," care of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
