BELLA VISTA – David Leslie Redway, 77, died peacefully of melanoma at his home on Monday, May 23, 2011, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Memorial services will be held May 26, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Highlands Methodist Church of Bella Vista. Refreshments and memories will be shared in the church following services. David was born to James and Roxie Redway, March 20, 1934, in Chattanooga, Okla. Shortly after, his family moved to Lincoln, Ark., where he grew up. He joined the Navy when he was 17 and served in the Korean War. After serving his country, he went to work in the ship yards in California. He married Emma McElvogue and had three children and raised two stepdaughters. He then became a member of the Boilermakers Union and traveled with his family, where his work took him. He later married Betty Cole in Page, Ariz., and was married for 30 years before her death. In 2006, David developed a renewed zest for life when he married Jeanne Johnson of Bella Vista, Ark. Although their time together was short, it was wonderful and he cherished his life with her. David loved to fish and was a member of the Bella Vista Fly Tyers. He was an active member of the Highlands Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Shriner Temple in Winslow, Ariz. David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul, Charles, and Jack; and sisters, Ella Mae and Imogene. Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanne; son, James (Conny) of Bella Vista; son, David of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter, Susan of Albuquerque, N.M.; stepdaughters, Vicky (Paul) of Bloomfield, N.M. and Jeannie of Sacramento, Calif.; and special grandson, Sean of Albuquerque, N.M.; step children, John and Tom Johnson and Ron and Kathy Cole; sisters, Delores Wallace and Dorothy Collier of Lincoln; and a brother, James (Buddy) Redway of Mesa, Ariz.
