Lindalu R. “Linda” Nastase, 80, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Avera Dougherty Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St, Lambert Catholic Church in Sioux Falls with burial at St. Michael Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with a Liturgical Wake Service followed by the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Catholic Foundation, EWTN, or the MS Society.
Lindalu Ruth Laugel was born on November 20, 1932 in Omaha, Nebraska to Wesley A. and Alyce L. (Sund) Laugel. She was raised and received her education in Omaha graduating from Benson High School, class of 1951. Following high school Linda worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone.
On June 12, 1954 Linda was united in marriage with Sam Nastase at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Omaha. The couple moved to Corpus Christi Texas, while Sam worked in the US Coast Guard. While in Texas the couple started their family, and was blessed with four children. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls on Bahnson Avenue in 1963. Linda was a member of St. Lambert Catholic Church, past member of Beta Sigma Phi, St. Ann’s Guild and Serra Club.
Linda enjoyed dancing, ice skating, playing tennis, decorating her home, reading and traveling; especially to Arizona and her four o’clock group. Above all she loved spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend who will be dearly missed.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 58 years, Sam Nastase, Sioux Falls; four children, Mark (Tina) Nastase, Ellicott City, MD, Timothy Nastase, Sioux Falls, Kimberly (Bill) Ringen, Sioux Falls, and Michael Nastase, Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Alicia Swalley, St. Paul, MN, Vanessa Nastase, Silver Spring, MD, Angelina Nastase, Salina, KS, Zacheriah (Stephanie) Swalley, Kansas City, MO, Josh (Amanda) Ellis, Sioux Falls, and Jami (Quint) Ford, Sioux Falls; three great-grandchildren, David Swalley, Jude Ellis and Elias Ford; three siblings, Kathleen (Richard) Traynor, Evergreen, CO, Patrick (Jane) Laughlin, Manhattan Beach, CA and Linae (Herman) Monico, Omaha, NE; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley & Alyce Laugel; and brother, Wesley (Emily) Laugel Jr.
