The remains of
Mrs. Rupert I. Woodward, who died in Waltham, Mass., arrived here on Tuesday afternoon for interment in Riverside Cemetery, beside those of her husband who passed away some eight years ago. They were accompanied by her daughter, Miss Grace Woodward, supervisor of business education of Waltham Senior and Junior High Schools, Mrs. Aubrey Forster, of Natick, Mass., and brother, F. W. Webster, of Cambridge, Kings, who was returning from spending the winter in Florida and had arrived at his sister’s home previous to her decease. Besides the children mentioned she is survived by W. C. Woodward of Upper Granville, and Mrs. W. V. Spurr, of Torbrook, one sister, Mrs. Colin Smith, of Nictaux Falls.
Mrs. Woodward was a daughter of the late Asahel Webster, of Cambridge, Kings, and a descendant of Sir John Webster, a former colonial governor of Connecticut. Her mother was formerly Miss Lavinia Tupper, a first cousin of the late Sir Charles Tupper, a former Premier of Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Rupert I. Woodward were at one time residents of Upper Granville, afterwards living in Bridgetown. They went to Waltham, Mass., in 1919 where Mrs. Woodward was a very prominent member of the First Baptist Church in that city. Services were held there conducted by her pastor, Rev. I. B. Hardy, his daughter taking the solo parts in the vocal selections rendered.
Services here were conducted by Rev. L. E. Ackland at the home of Mrs. Woodward’s son, Mrs. W. C. Ward, Upper Granville and interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
